Shield AI is seeking a Tax Senior Manager to join our Finance team. As Shield AI expands globally, this role offers a rare opportunity to shape the tax function at a high-growth, mission-driven tech company. This role will be critical in ensuring compliance with global tax laws and developing forward-thinking tax strategies aligned with our innovation and international growth. This role will report to the Controller and work closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to guide business decisions, manage compliance, and optimize tax operations globally. 

What you'll do:

  • Lead and execute all aspects of global tax strategy, planning, and compliance. 
  • Oversee preparation and submission of tax filings (income tax, sales & use tax, VAT, payroll tax, property tax). 
  • Ensure accurate global tax provision (ASC 740) and reporting. 
  • Support international operations, managing cross-border tax planning and compliance. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to advise on tax implications of business transactions and expansion plans. 
  • Research complex tax issues, summarize the implications for management, and prepare technical tax memorandums and documentation. 
  • Oversee transfer pricing arrangements and intercompany tax issues. 
  • Manage relationships with external tax consultants and advisors. 
  • Foster a culture of compliance and tax awareness across departments. 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Accounting or Tax. 
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax, indirect taxes, and international tax principles. 
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Knowledge of global transfer pricing, VAT, and M&A tax strategies. 
  • Self-motivation with high standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • JD, master’s degree in taxation, CPA, and/or LLM in Tax 
  • Experience in a software, defense technology or aerospace company.
